Yes, one does not sin for it if his sadness is not accompanied by something prohibited, as one grieves over calamities.
مُحَرَّمٌ — something prohibited. A passive participle, 'something forbidden', the delayed subject of 'was joined'. As a passive form it names a thing made unlawful; it states what must not accompany the sadness.
