How to say “he filled it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَمَلأَهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَأَدْنَاهُ مِنَ الْمِصْبَاحِ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا وَهُوَ فِي يَدِهِ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ
So he filled it with water and placed it nearer to the lamp, and he did not cease standing while it was in his hand until morning came.
فَمَلأَهُ — So he filled it. The front fa- gives a 'so then' sequencing force, and the past verb under it has the 'it' object suffixed onto its end. So one word carries connector, verb, and object together. The attached -hu points back to the vessel he had gone to, the thing he now fills.
