How to say “he placed it nearer” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَمَلأَهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَأَدْنَاهُ مِنَ الْمِصْبَاحِ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا وَهُوَ فِي يَدِهِ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ
So he filled it with water and placed it nearer to the lamp, and he did not cease standing while it was in his hand until morning came.
وَأَدْنَاهُ — and he placed it nearer. The front wa- joins this to the previous act, and the verb beneath it has the 'it' object suffixed on. So the word means 'and he brought it nearer', verb plus object in one. The attached -hu keeps tracking the same water-filled vessel through the sequence.
