How to say “heating / warming” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَحَكَى غَيْرُ الْمَأْمُونِ أَنَّ السَّجَّانُ فَطِنَ لِإِرْتِفَاقِهِ بِالْمِصْبَاحِ فِي تَسْخِينِ الْمَاءِ،
And another narrator, not al-Ma'mun, reported that the jailer noticed his staying close by the lamp in heating the water.
تَسْخِينِ — heating. This is a verbal noun, an action turned into a noun, here 'the heating', and after the 'in' it sits in the genitive. Built on a causative pattern, it means actively making something hot, not just being warm. As an action-noun it still governs its own object, the next word.
