How to say “held it back” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَّرَهَا،
He held it back for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.
أَخَّرَهَا — held it back. A past-tense verb of putting-off with the 'it' object built onto its end, so the doer 'he', the act, and the gift as object all sit in one word. The attached feminine pronoun points back to the gift as the thing held back.
