Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I felt ashamed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَدْ اِسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ مَا أَسْأَلُهُ
And indeed I felt ashamed before Allah because of how often I asked Him.
اِسْتَحْيَيْتُ — I felt ashamed. A past-tense verb 'felt shy/ashamed' with an 'I' ending fused on, so the word alone is 'I was ashamed'. The reflexive shape of the verb conveys an inward emotional state directed back at the speaker.
