How to say “I ask Him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَدْ اِسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ مَا أَسْأَلُهُ
And indeed I felt ashamed before Allah because of how often I asked Him.
أَسْأَلُهُ — I ask Him. A present-tense verb with its 'I' subject inside and a 'Him' object on the end, so the word says 'I ask Him'. Inside a past narrative the present paints the asking as repeated and ongoing, which is why English may render it 'kept asking'.
From: Silence and Supplication →وَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ الشَّرِّ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَدْرِكَنِي
And I used to ask him about evil, for fear that it might overtake me.
أَسْأَلُهُ — I used to ask him. A present-tense verb with an attached 'him' object on its end. Inside the 'used to' frame it gives the repeated past sense, and the suffix names whom the asking was directed at, all in one word.
