And it is said that "dafiq" is an active participle with the meaning of a passive, like their saying "sir katim" and "ʿīsha rāḍiya."
كَاتِمٌ — 'katim'. An active participle (fa'il form) used as an adjective, agreeing with 'secret' as indefinite. Its form looks active ('concealing'), yet in the phrase it means 'concealed' (passive sense), the very illustration intended.
