رَأَى الْعُلَمَاءُ وَالْأَئِمَّةُ النُجَبَاءُ أَنَّ الاِعْتِمَادَ عَلَى الْحِفْظِ وَحْدِهِ لَا يَكْفِي،
The scholars and the eminent imams concluded that relying on memorization alone is not sufficient.
النُجَبَاءُ — the eminent. An adjective 'eminent / distinguished', describing the imams (and scholars) just named. It agrees with its noun in being definite and plural ('al-', -u ending), the way an Arabic adjective copies the noun's definiteness, number and case.
