ثُمَّ قَطَعَ دَابِرَهُمْ وَأَبْطَلَ سُنَّتَهُمْ وَمَحَا آثَارَهُمْ وَجَوْرَهُمْ فَإِنَّ أُولَئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ
Then He completely cut them off, nullified their traditions, erased their traces and tyranny, for they were not upon anything of what was mentioned.
وَأَبْطَلَ — and nullified. The wa- adds a second verb in the pattern meaning to nullify, 'and he voided', with its 'he' subject built in. Coordinated with the cutting, it continues God's actions; the verb governs the following noun as object.
