Arabic vocabulary
How to say “one” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وقد شرط أن يأخذ من الأغنياء أحد ثلاثة أشياء طوقا أو إكليلا أو سوارا من الذهب
He stipulated that he would receive from the rich one of three things: a necklace, a crown, or a bracelet of gold.
أَحَدَ — one. This is the object of 'receive', meaning 'one', and it is the front half of 'one of three things', a possessive pairing. Its object ending marks it as what is taken; it draws definiteness from the owner that follows.
