How to say “receive” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وقد شرط أن يأخذ من الأغنياء أحد ثلاثة أشياء طوقا أو إكليلا أو سوارا من الذهب
He stipulated that he would receive from the rich one of three things: a necklace, a crown, or a bracelet of gold.
يَأخُذَ — he would receive. This verb is in the subjunctive because of the particle 'an' before it, which shortens its ending. It states the content of the stipulation, what he would receive, as a planned arrangement rather than a fact.
