As Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said to al-Hamsiyyah when she asked him: 'What will sustain us in this matter?'
﵁ — (may God be pleased with him). A set honorific formula invoking God's pleasure on a Companion, said after naming him. It is a fixed devotional phrase, not a working part of the sentence's grammar.
