When the Messenger pledged allegiance with the people of Aqabah, he instructed his companions to migrate to Medina.
بَايَعَ — pledged allegiance. A past-tense engage-with (form III) verb 'gave / took a pledge of allegiance', its subject coming next. The form-III shape marks a mutual act, the two-way oath.
