How to say “polish” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإن القلب كالمرآة، والشهوات كالصدأ، وذكر الله كالماء الذي يجلوه
For the heart is like a mirror, and desires are like rust; remembrance of God is like water that purifies it.
يَجْلُوهُ — polishes it. A present-tense verb carrying its own hidden 'it' subject, the water, with the object 'it' attached on the end as a suffix. So one word holds the verb, its subject, and its object; the attached pronoun reaches back to the heart, the thing the water polishes.
