How to say “precedence” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَالْمَشْهُودُ لَهُ بِالسَّبْقِ الْكَرِيمِ فِي الْبَلَاغَةِ وَالْبَرَاعَةِ،
and the one acclaimed for his noble precedence in eloquence and mastery,
بِالسَّبْقِ — by the precedence. The preposition bi- ('by/for') fused to a definite noun 'the precedence', marking what he is acclaimed for. The preposition governs the noun in the genitive; al- makes it definite. It introduces the specific merit testified to.
