Arabic vocabulary
How to say “punishment” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَوْ يَتَخَلَّصَ مِنْ بَأْسِ اللَّهِ بِكَثْرَةِ الْبُحُوثِ وَالْجِدَالِ،
Or will he escape from the punishment of God by many debates and arguments?
بَأْسِ — punishment. A noun heading a possessive pair, 'the might / wrath OF God', bound straight to the divine name after it. It is genitive because the preceding 'from' governs it, and as the front member it stays bare of 'the', drawing definiteness from the owner ahead.
