How to say “recited” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَلْ قِيلَ لِلصِّدِّيقِ وَقَدْ تَلَا آيَةً هَذَا كَلَامُكَ وَكَلَامُ صَاحِبِكَ؟
Rather, it was said to the Truthful One as he recited a verse: 'Is this your word and the word of your companion?'
تَلَا — he recited. A past-tense verb 'he recited', with the 'he' subject built in. It sits in the background clause describing what he was doing when the words were said to him.
