How to say “river” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ إِذَا أَتَاكَ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ لَكَ اِشْرَبْ مَا فِي النَّهْرِ
He said, "If a man comes to you and tells you, 'Drink what is in the river.'"
النَّهْرِ — the river. A definite noun ('the river') in the form the preposition 'in' imposes on it, with 'al-' (the) marking it as the known river. Its case is governed entirely by the 'in' before it.
