Whenever Umayya passed by the city, he would stay with Sa'd.
Sa'd. A proper name in the 'of' (genitive) shape because the preceding preposition governs it. It names the host with whom the traveller habitually lodged.
From: Warning Before the Battle of Badr →
From Abu Sa'id Sa'd ibn Malik ibn Sinan al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him.
سَعْدِ — Sa'd. This is the man's given name, standing in apposition to the teknonym before it, the two naming the same person. It keeps the 'of...' (genitive) ending shared across the whole name chain, since the governing preposition's reach extends over each part of the full identification.
