ثُمَّ مَرَّ بِأَمَةٍ فَقَالَتْ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْ إِبْنِي مِثْلَ هَذِهِ فَتَرَكَ ثَدْيَهَا
Then he passed by a slave-girl, and she said, "O God, do not make my son like this." Then he left her breast.
بِأَمَةٍ — by a slave-girl. A 'by/past' preposition fused to the front of its noun, marking what was passed -- a slave-girl. The preposition governs that noun into the genitive ending it assigns, all bundled into one written word.
