مِثْلَ — the same. 'mithl' = 'like, the same as'; first half of an 'of' phrase: 'the like of...'.

مِثْلَ — like. A comparison noun 'like/the equal of' heading into the demonstrative that follows. It is the second object of 'make' -- the model her son must not be cast as -- and it sets up 'like this (slave-girl)'.
