Allah, the Exalted, said: "O son of Adam! As long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind.
ٱبْنَ — son of. Because it is both being addressed and heading an 'of' pairing ('son of Adam'), this word takes the -a ending. It is the one God calls to again and again through the hadith.
From: The Vastness of God's Mercy →
O son of Adam! If your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky and then you were to ask for My forgiveness, I would forgive you.
ٱبْنَ — son of. Addressed and heading the 'of' pair, so it wears the -a ending once more. The repeated call 'son of Adam' keeps the human listener in view across each fresh promise.
From: The Vastness of God's Mercy →
O son of Adam! Were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, not associating anything with Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.
ٱبْنَ — son of. The -a ending again, since it is addressed and heading the 'of' pair. The form is identical every time — a fixed mode of address.
