How to say “stood by” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَانَ مَنْ حَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ اِسْتَقَامَ لَهُ،
And those around the Messenger of God had already stood by him,
اسْتَقَامَ — stood by. A past verb in the 'seek/become-straight' pattern, here 'held firm / stayed loyal', single-male-or-collective subject built in; with the helper and 'already' it reads as 'had stood by'. It is the main verb of the background clause.
