How to say “success” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قلّة التَّوْفِيق وَفَسَاد الرَّأْي وخفاء الْحق وَفَسَاد الْقلب
Lack of success, distortion of opinion, obscurity of truth, and corruption of the heart.
التَّوْفِيقِ — of success. al- = 'the'; the second half of the 'of…' phrase, giving 'of success' (tawfiq = success, divine enabling).
From: Returning to God →وإن زعم أنه يريد التوفيق بيد الأدلة الشرعية
Even if he claims he wants to reconcile with the religious evidence.
ٱلتَّوْفِيقَ — to reconcile. 'reconciliation', accusative object of 'wants'; form-II verbal noun — bringing two things into accord.
From: Judging by Revelation →ولكن العاقل لا يطلب السلامة من التكليف، بل يطلب التوفيق للقيام به
But the wise person does not seek freedom from obligation; rather, he seeks guidance to fulfill it.
التَّوْفِيقَ — guidance. The thing the wise one does seek, 'enabling / success-from-God', taking the object ending as the receiver of the seeking. Its 'the' marks it as the definite divine help meant.
From: Facing God's Tests →فليستعن العبد بربه، وليسأله التوفيق، وليصبر على تكاليف الشرع، فإن العاقبة له
Let the servant seek assistance from his Lord, ask Him for guidance, and be patient with the duties of the law, for the outcome is in his favor.
التَّوْفِيقَ — for guidance. The thing asked for, 'enabling / success-from-God', the second object of 'ask', so it takes the object ending. Its 'the' marks it as the definite divine help meant.
From: Facing God's Tests →وَمَا تَوْفِيقِيُ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
My success is only by God.
تَوْفِيقِيُ — my success. A noun closed by '-i' (my), the possessor glued to its end, standing as the subject of the 'not...except' statement. The final vowel marks it as the subject of the equation, and the suffix ties the success to the speaker himself.
