How to say “Tawus” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فإنما أوجبه بعد التشهد الذي هو ثناء، وهو قول طاووس ووجه في مذهب أحمد
It is only obligated after the tashahhud, which is praise, according to Tawus and in one view within Ahmad's school.
طَاوُوسَ — Tawus. Genitive owner of 'opinion' — 'Tawus' (the early scholar); a diptote name (the -a, no tanwin).
From: Required Remembrance →وهو قول طاووس ووجه في مذهب أحمد
This is the opinion of Tawoos and a position in Ahmad's school of thought.
طَاوُوسَ — Tawoos. The owner in 'saying of Tawus', and a non-bending name: it takes a plain '-a' instead of the '-i' the pairing would normally give, and refuses tanwin. That bare ending is the signal that it is a proper name that does not fully decline.
