والاستدلال بالأدلة العامة ــ حيث لها دلالة ــ على وجهٍ يستلزم الجمعَ بين النقيضين،
And using general evidence, where it has a connotation, in a way that requires reconciling contradictions.
وَجْهٍ — a manner. Genitive after 'ala' — 'a way, footing'; indefinite; 'on a footing that...'.

It is only obligated after the tashahhud, which is praise, according to Tawus and in one view within Ahmad's school.
وَوَجْهٌ — and in one view. 'and one view', a second nominative joined by 'wa' — a recognized position; indefinite.

This is the opinion of Tawoos and a position in Ahmad's school of thought.
وَوَجْهٌ — and a position. Joined by 'and' as a second predicate — the view is also 'a face / an angle' within a school. The tanwin marks it indefinite nominative: one recognized stance among others.

وَجْهَ — the mouth. 'Face / front', the object, accusative ('-a'), and first term of an 'of' pairing — 'the mouth of the cave'. It owns the noun that follows.

As for if we see him learning, should we prevent him? There are two views.
وَجْهَانِ — two views. The noun in the dual '-ani' — 'two views' — Arabic's built-in 'exactly two.' The sentence ends as the earlier one did: the scholars split into two opinions, with no separate word for 'two' needed.

No one will remain on the face of the earth with an atom's weight of goodness or faith in their heart except that the wind will take their soul.
وَجْهِ — the face of. Genitive after 'on', this means 'the face / surface of' and heads a possessive — 'the face OF the earth'. It owns the noun to come.

وَجْهِهِ — his face. A noun with -hi (his) attached, 'his face', in the genitive because the preposition before it governs it. The attached pronoun is the owner; one word covers what English splits into 'his face'.

The correct understanding is that this is by way of analogy.
وَجْهِ — the manner. A noun 'way/aspect' that opens an 'of' pairing with the next word: by way of analogy. As the possessed head it carries no 'the' and sits in the genitive after the preceding 'upon'.

وَجْهِ — a metaphor. This noun 'way/manner' is the front of an 'of' pair, 'the way of analogy', genitive after the preposition. It drops its own 'the', drawing definiteness from the owner noun that follows, and names the mode being described.

وَجْهٍ — way. This noun lacks 'the' and is singular, naming a way or aspect, owned by 'every' before it. It takes the genitive ending of a possessed noun; together the phrase means in every respect.

He said: 'Whoever seeks knowledge to compete with the scholars, or to argue with the foolish, or to turn people's faces towards him, Allah will admit him into the Fire.'
وُجُوهَ — faces. This noun opens a possessive pair, 'faces of the people', set side by side with no word for 'of'. It is the object of 'turn', and it drops its own 'the' to take its definiteness from the owning noun that follows.

وَوَجْهُهُ — and his face. The wa- opens a side-comment about his face, and the noun has -hu 'his' attached, forming 'his face'. The wa- plus a noun-led clause here attaches a state, 'with his face being...', whose predicate follows.
