Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the bread” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يَغْدُو عَلَيَّ الْخُبْزُ مِنْ خَابِزٍ لَا يَقْبَلُ الرَهْنَ وَلَا يَنْسَى،
Bread comes to me in the morning from a baker who neither accepts pledges nor overlooks debts.
الْخُبْزُ — the bread. The al- makes this definite, 'the' bread, the specific known thing. It is the doer of the 'comes in the morning' verb earlier, so it serves as the delayed subject, the thing that arrives.
