Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the inn” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يَا أَيُّهَا السَّائِلُ عَنْ مَنْزِلِي نَزَلْتُ فِي الْخَانِ عَلَى نَفْسِي،
O questioner who asks about my dwelling, I stayed at the inn by myself.
الْخَانِ — the inn. The al- makes this definite, 'the' inn, the specific known lodging. Sitting after the preposition, it takes the genitive ending that prepositions impose, marking it as the place the speaker stayed in.
