Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the minds” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَعَنْ الأَصْمَعِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الرَّشِيدَ يَقُولُ النَّوَادِرُ تَشْحَذُ الأَذْهَانَ وَتَفْتُقُ الآذَانَ
And from al-Asma'i: I heard al-Rashid say, "Anecdotes sharpen minds and quicken ears."
الأَذْهَانَ — the minds. The al- makes this plural definite, 'the' minds, the known whole. It is the receiver-of-the-action of 'sharpen', so it wears the accusative object ending, marking it as what gets sharpened.
