How to say “al-Asma'i” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
And from al-Asma'i: I heard al-Rashid say, "Anecdotes sharpen minds and quicken ears."
الأَصْمَعِيِّ — al-Asma'i. The al- makes this proper name definite as a fixed name. Sitting after the preposition, it takes the genitive ending that prepositions impose, marking it as the source the report is traced to.
