How to say “the second” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
He said, "I fear two things: one of them is the seeking of refuge by those who seek refuge, and the other is the radiance of the knowledge of the truthful ones."
وَالثَّانِيُ — and the second. Joins a connector 'wa-' to an ordinal 'the second', made definite by 'al-' and standing in the subject case. The 'wa-' here pairs the second feared thing with the first, 'and the second is...'. The ordinal marks this as the other half of the dual.
