Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the two revelations” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَعُذْرُ مَنْ نَبَذَ الْوَحْيَيْنِ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ لَا تَنْفَعُ الظَّالِمِينَ فِيهِ الْمَعَاذِرُ؟
And what excuse will the one who casts the two revelations behind his back have on a day when excuses will not benefit the wrongdoers?
الْوَحْيَيْنِ — the two revelations. This is the dual, Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' form, here 'the two revelations', meaning the Book and the prophetic practice together. Where English needs the extra word 'two', Arabic folds 'a pair' into the noun's own ending. It is the object of 'cast aside'.
