How to say “the valley” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ لِأَخِيهِ اِرْكَبْ إِلَى هَذَا الْوَادِيِ،
He said to his brother, "Ride to this valley."
الْوَادِيِ — the valley. Carries the attached 'the', marking a specific valley, and its ending is the case the preceding motion preposition forces on it. It is the goal the command points toward.
From: A Stranger Finds the Prophet →وَأَنْتَ سَيِّدُ أَهْلِ الْوَادِيِ تَخَلَّفُوا مَعَكَ،
And you are the leader of the people of the valley; they lagged behind with you.
الْوَادِيِ — the valley. The al- makes it definite — *the* valley — and it closes the 'people of...' pairing in the 'of' (genitive) shape. Together they identify the community led.
