Arabic vocabulary
How to say “then bear witness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ فَإِشْهَدِي اللَّهَ وَأَشْهِدِينَا أَنَّكَ قَدْ رَضِيتَ عَنْهُ
He said, "Then bear witness to God and to us that you have been pleased with him."
فَإِشْهَدِي — then bear witness. The front fa- is a connector that ties this command to what was just said, giving a 'so then, go ahead and...' feel rather than a plain 'and'. The verb itself is a command (imperative) aimed at a single female listener, which Arabic marks by its shape and its feminine ending rather than by any separate 'you'. So one short word packs together the linking sense and a direct order to her.
