Arabic vocabulary
How to say “you were pleased” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ فَإِشْهَدِي اللَّهَ وَأَشْهِدِينَا أَنَّكَ قَدْ رَضِيتَ عَنْهُ
He said, "Then bear witness to God and to us that you have been pleased with him."
رَضِيتَ — you were pleased. This is a completed-action verb with the 'you' subject built into its -ta ending, so no separate pronoun is written. Sitting right after the certainty particle, it states the thing being confirmed: that the addressee has reached a settled state of being pleased. Note that this root often describes an ongoing contentment even though the verb form is the past shape.
