Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they kindled” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمَّا أَمْسَى النَّاسُ الْيَوْمَ الَّذِي فُتِحَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْقَدُوا نِيرَانًا كَثِيرَةً
When evening fell on the day that had been opened to them, the people kindled many fires.
أَوْقَدُوا — they kindled. A finished-action verb carrying its subject inside it: the -u ending fixes the doers as 'they', the people, so no separate pronoun is needed. The built-in plural subject is the key fact, reporting what they did at nightfall.
