Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to be reassured” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَوْلُهُمْ لَيْسَ الْمُخْبِرُ كَالْمُعَايِنِ، مَذْكُورٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَلَكِنْ لِيَطْمَئِنَّ قَلْبِي
And their saying: 'The informer is not like the observer' is mentioned in His saying: 'But so that my heart will be reassured.'
لِيَطْمَئِنَّ — so that will be reassured. This is the purpose prefix 'so that, in order that' attached to the verb 'be reassured', and that prefix forces the verb into the subjunctive mood, reshaping its ending. The shift marks the reassurance as the aim being sought, not a fact. English uses 'so that'; Arabic also bends the verb's form.
