How to say “to stretch” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَوْلُهُمْ خَيْرُ الْأُمُورِ أَوْسَاطُهَا، مَذْكُورٌ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَى عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ
And their saying: 'The best of matters is its middle' is mentioned in His saying: 'And do not make your hand chained to your neck, nor open it completely.'
تَبْسُطْهَا — you stretch it. This is a verb 'you stretch out' with the attached 'it' (feminine) as object, pointing back to the hand. It is clipped into the jussive because the prohibition 'do not' before it requires that form. One word carries 'do not stretch it out', the suffix tracking the hand.
