Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two hundred” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْ كِتَابِ الْفُنُونِ وَهَذَا الْكِتَابُ مِئَتَا مُجَلَّدٍ،
He, may God have mercy on him, said about the Book of the Arts: This book consists of two hundred volumes.
مِئَتَا — two hundred. A number word in its dual-built 'two hundred' shape, serving as the predicate of 'this book is...'. Arabic forms 'two hundred' by putting the word for hundred into its dual, folding the count into the word itself. It heads an 'of' link to the counted noun that follows.
