وَقَدْ ذَكَرْنَا أَنَّ الحُمْقَ فَسَادٌ فِي الْعَقْلَيْنِ أَوْ فِي الذِّهْنِ،

الْعَقْلَيْنِ — the two intellects. This is the dual, Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' form, folded into the noun's ending rather than spelled out with a separate 'two' word as English must. The al- makes it definite, so it names the two specific intellects under discussion. It sits in the (genitive) because the preposition 'in' governs it.

Furthermore, people differ in the two intellects, in its very essence, and in the amount of it that they were given.
الْعَقْلَيْنِ — the two intellects. This is the dual form, Arabic's built-in 'exactly two', carried by the noun's ending rather than a separate 'two' word; its al- makes it definite. Governed by the preceding 'in', it sits in the (genitive). It names the two intellects as one of the respects in which people differ.
