Furthermore, people differ in the two intellects, in its very essence, and in the amount of it that they were given.
النَّاسَ — the people. This noun is the subject seized by the preceding emphatic 'indeed', which is why it carries the accusative ending; its al- makes it definite and general, 'people' as a whole. It waits for the verb that follows to say what people do. Its accusative is purely the grammatical effect of the particle, not an object role.
