اجعل للصبحِ والمساءِ وِردًا من الأذكارِ المأثورة، واقرأه بمهلٍ وفهم، ثم اسأل نفسَك ماذا تغيّر؟
Make for the morning and evening a habitual recitation from established remembrances, read it with care and understanding, then ask yourself: what has changed?
وَفَهْمٍ — and understanding. 'and understanding', joined by 'wa', a second genitive under 'bi' — read with care AND comprehension.

He arose on the Day of Apostasy with understanding and alertness.
بِفَهْمٍ — with understanding. 'Bi-' (with) fused with 'understanding', genitive (the tanwin), indefinite — 'with insight'. The 'bi-' marks the manner of his rising.

Part of its etiquette is that a person maintains intellectual humility: seeing the evidence, recognizing the limits of his understanding, and remembering that the objectives are broader than a single issue.
فَهْمِهِ — of his understanding. 'his understanding,' in the -i form, owned in 'the limits of his understanding,' with 'his' attached. The humble person knows where his comprehension stops — and does not mistake its edge for the whole truth.

Nor can he fully grasp the meaning of his book either.
بِفَهْمِ — in the understanding of. The relator 'bi-' = 'in / with respect to' fused to a noun 'understanding', marking what is (not) comprehended. The relator governs the noun into the genitive, and that noun heads an 'of' link with 'his book' next: 'the understanding of his book'.

Many people have erred in their understanding of the divine decree and predestination.
فَهْمِ — understanding. This noun heads an 'of' pairing with the words after it, so it takes definiteness from them rather than its own article, and it sits in the genitive under the 'in' before it. It builds 'understanding of...', the arena of the error.
