Arabic vocabulary
How to say “witty” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَدْ رُوِيَّنَا عَنْ ابْنِ عَائِشَةَ أَحَادِيثًا مِلَاحًا فِي بَعْضِهَا رِفْثٌ،
And indeed we have narrated from Ibn Aisha hadiths that are witty, and some of them contain obscenity.
مِلَاحًا — witty. A describing word attached to the 'reports' before it, marking them as witty. As an Arabic adjective it follows its noun and copies its indefinite, object-marking ending, so it trails and agrees with the reports.
