قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ شَكَا حَاجَةً شَدِيدَةً وَعِيَالًا فَارْحَمْهُ،
He said, "I said, O Messenger of God, he complained of a severe need and dependents, so have mercy on him,"
حَاجَةً — a need. An indefinite noun with an accusative ending marking it as the thing complained of, the object of the verb. With no 'the', it presents the need in general terms; the case ending, not word order, fixes its object role.
