How to say “a reader” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ
Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I am not a reader."
بِقَارِئٍ — a reader. An extra 'with/by' preposition is glued to the predicate noun, a classical flourish that strengthens the denial in the 'I am not...' frame. It does not change the meaning to 'with', it simply reinforces 'not a reader at all'.
From: The Night of Revelation and Consolation →قُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ
I said, "I am not a reciter."
بِقَارِئٍ — as a reciter. An extra 'with/by' preposition is glued onto the predicate noun, a classical reinforcement of the denial in 'I am not...'. It strengthens the 'not at all' sense rather than adding a literal 'with'.
