Arabic vocabulary
How to say “an action” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ تَكُونُ قُوَّةُ صَبْرِهِ عَلَى فِعْلٍ مَا يَنْتَفِعُ بِهِ
And among the people are those whose strong patience is directed toward doing what benefits them.
فِعْلٍ — an action. An indefinite noun ('an action') sitting in the genitive because the preposition before it governs it that way. The lack of an al- prefix, plus the -in tail, marks it as 'a' rather than 'the' deed. It names the broad activity that the patience is directed toward.
