How to say “an adornment” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَزَيَّنْ الْعِبَّادُ بِزِينَةٍ أَبْلَغِ فِيمَا عِنْدِي مِنَ الزُّهْدِ فِي الدُّنْيَا،
And know that the servants have never adorned themselves with an ornament more effective, in my view, than asceticism in the world.
بِزِينَةٍ — with an adornment. The bi- here is a preposition meaning 'with', marking the means of the adorning, and it governs the indefinite noun it attaches to. No 'the' is present, so it is 'an adornment', some ornament in general. The bi- assigns the 'by means of' role to what follows.
