• فإذا اكتفى بدون الشبع، حسن اغتذاء بدنه، وصلح حال نفسه وقلبه

  If he is content with less than satiety, his body is well-nourished, and his soul and heart are in good condition.

  حَسُنَ — becomes good. A past-tense verb 'becomes good', opening the result clause and carrying its own subject; the following noun-phrase is what turns out well. It reads with a general present sense set by the earlier condition.

• وَأَنَّهُمْ هُمْ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَئِكَ رَفِيقًا،

  And that they are those on whom Allah has bestowed favor: the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. Those are excellent companions.

  وَحَسُنَ — and excellent. Here the wa- shifts gears: it leaves the noun-list and starts a fresh comment, joining a short verb of praise ('and excellent are...'). This verb is a frozen praise form that does not really describe a past event; it simply pronounces a verdict on the group named next. So the connector moves us from listing the companions to evaluating them.

• وَمَنْ حَسُنَ عَقْلُهُ غَطَّى ذَلِكَ جَمِيعَ ذُنُوبِهِ

  Whoever's judgment is sound, that covers all his sins.

  حَسُنَ — is sound. A past-tense verb of the 'be/become good' type, read as a general truth, 'whoever's judgment is sound', not a single past event. It carries its subject from the noun that follows it. The perfect here states a standing condition rather than a finished action.

• وحسن الثناء عليه شيئاً لم يفتح على أحد قبلي ثم يقال يا محمد ارفع رأسك، سل تعطه، واشفع تشفع،

  The praise of him was so excellent, something not granted to anyone before me. Then it is said, O Muhammad, raise your head, ask and you will be given, and intercede and your intercession will be accepted.

  وَحَسُنَ — and was excellent. 'wa-' opens the clause and the past verb means 'became excellent', its subject coming next; the verb agrees with that following 'praise'. The prefix simply joins this to the run of narration.
