How to say “arrival” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَلَغَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ مَقْدَمُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ،
News reached Abdullah ibn Salam that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, had arrived in the city.
مَقْدَمُ — the arrival. An action-noun meaning 'the arriving', which is the real doer of the reaching verb: it is the arrival that reached him. Arabic packs 'the fact that he arrived' into one noun and feeds it in as the subject of the news.
